Message from the President – Nicola O’Driscoll
Welcome to the 2024 annual Aberdeen Highland Games. This year we are celebrating 25 years since the running of the first Games in 2000.
It is a pleasure to announce that The Chief of the Day is Dr Cameron Collins who is a local Veterinarian, along with being the Managing Director of the Scone Equine Hospital. Cameron has been a strong supporter of the Aberdeen Highland Games over the years. On the day you will be able to peruse the wide array of stall holders who bring their wares for sale. The pipe bands will once again fill the air with the typical Highland soundtrack. There will be displays by Highland Dancers on the stage and the Kilted Warriors will be showing off their feats of strength. There will be Clan stalls so that you can meet current Clan members and those with an interest in Scottish ancestry can follow their Clan’s history. Subject to availability, we once again welcome the Australian Federation Guard – Precision Drill Team to entertain us with their wonderful display.
The final event in the program is the traditional Kirkin’ of the Tartan service which is held at St Marks Anglican Church in Aberdeen on Sunday morning to celebrate the Tartan.
I would like to thank all the members of the Aberdeen Highland Games committee for their hard work over the past year. We have a small, dedicated committee without which running the event would not be possible.
To all our wonderful sponsors, events like the Aberdeen Highland Games simply cannot be held without you and we appreciate all the help you give us on the day and throughout the year.
I hope you can be at the Aberdeen Highland Games in 2024 to enjoy the day with us.
